Ooh, Ooh, Pick Me!
There are companies that claim to be "Google Killers" all the time. None of them are, though. (I wonder if they should be sued for false advertising?) Mahalo is one such startup. I don't see it acheiving the Google Killing status, mainly because a human based directory has already been tried. Indexes and such "are so passe."
However, I read an article today about a Web 3.0 dream come true. (Web 3.0 is called the semantic web, which uses natural speak to get real, pertinent answers.) The company is called Powerset, and they spell an end to keyword searches, and a call for Google to advance. We'll see if Google attempts to buy them out, or if they release a similar improvement in search. Fun, fun, fun!
Naturally, my interest has been piqued. So, I hopped over to their site and signed up in their "please pick me to receive a beta testing invitation" program. We'll see what happens when it launches in September. Until then, check out some blog posts that highlight search examples.
PS: The video is kind of useless. Don't bother watching it.
